Ration rice seized from car

About 900 kgs of PDS rice, being allegedly smuggled to Kerala, was seized from a car which turned turtle after a tyre burst near Pollachi in the district in the wee hours today, police said.
The car capsised after one of its tyres burst and its two occupants managed to escape on seeing a patrol team, police said adding a search was on for them.
The rice was being smuggled to Kerala when the mishap occurred. Police impounded the car, with 18 bags of rice, and handed it over to the Civil Supplies Department.
