Noted rationalist Narendra Nayak has claimed two bike borne-men made an attemptto attack him here.
"An attempt to attack me was made when I was going for my early morning swim," he said in a post on Facebook last night.
Two persons riding the bike said his car tyre was flat, but he did not stop and continued to drive, Nayak said.
Following the incident, police said they have increased the security to Nayak.
"I clearly saw the rider of the bike and am thankfulto my quick reflexes that I did not stop to check the tyres," he said, recalling the incident yesterday.
Nayak has been spearheading a movement seeking justice in a case relating to the murder of RTI activist Vinayaka Baliga, and the arrest of those involved. 51-year-old Baliga was hacked to death near his residence here in March last year.
Stating that according to him it was a standardtechnique to make one put off the car engine and then attack, Nayak has said the whole idea seemed to "finish him off" before March 21 -- that is one year after the "ghastly" murder of Baliga.
He also suspected that the same gang which wasbehind Baliga's murder tried to attack him.
A complaint was lodged with police by him later.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar said following the complaint from Nayak the CCB team was investigating.
He said "one person had already been deputed toNayak's security, now we are giving additional one moreperson.
