Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has asked officials to tone up the power distribution system in the state and induce a change in the work culture of the department by transferring employees posted at one place for long.
Power theft should be checked by penalising offenders, consumers should be encouraged to use metres and metres should be upgraded to streamline the power distribution system, Rawat said at a review meeting of the department here yesterday.
The work culture of the department can also be improved by transferring personnel posted at one place for long, he said.
Power theft should be checked by strictly penalising the offenders but the penalty imposed should be practical, he said.
The Chief Minister also asked the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam to adopt the ITI and Polytechnic institute close to Lakhwar and Vyasi hydel projects for the benefit of local students.
