The Uttar Pradesh Congress today said it was ready to give six-month "honeymoon" period to the Yogi Adityanath government before scrutinising its work and schemes, and promised to act as a "vigilant watchman".
"The BJP government is in a honeymoon mode, and we are ready to give it a six-month honeymoon period after which the Congress will start scrutinising its work and schemes," UP Congress spokesperson Ashok Singh told PTI.
He also said that the party will act as a "vigilant watchman" and would not allow the BJP government to take any anti-people measures.
Countering the Congress' "honeymoon period" remark, state BJP spokesperson Manish Shukla said "The Yogi Adityanath government had never allowed itself to slip into the honeymoon mode. It was in working mode from day one. This can be easily substantiated by the late night departmental presentations made to the Chief Minister."
Singh, on the issue of the Congress' poor performance, said that the party was preparing for the polls to the civic bodies, and "is confident of putting up good show".
Speaking the low morale of the party workers, he said that when the results do not match with your efforts, "the morale and mood certainly takes a dip. But, I am sure that the clouds of despair will vanish, and we will bounce back strongly.
