The company had posted net profit of Rs 253.07 crore in the year-ago period.
According to statement, total income of the company increased to Rs 2,856.01 crore for the quarter under review, against Rs 1,884.18 crore in the same quarter last year.
The company's consolidated net profit during the first half of the current fiscal (April-September) also rose by 38.71 per cent to Rs 689.97 crore compared to Rs 497.42 crore in the year-ago period.
The company generated 11,053 million units in the quarter under review compared to 3,157 million units in the same quarter last year.
Reliance Power Limited, a part of the Reliance Group, is a private sector power generation and coal resources company.
The company has the portfolio of power projects in the private sector, based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of 5,945 megawatts.
