Renowned vocalist Dhondutai Kulkarni dead

Dhondutai Kulkarni, a noted singer of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, died here today after a brief illness. She was 86.
The singer, who passed away at her home in northern Mumbai suburb Borivli, was born in Kolhapur in western Maharashtra.
After her father initiated her into music, she became an AIR performing artiste at the age of eight.
Dhondutai was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1990.
