Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday said the state government has decided to release Rs 20.50 crore to organise the world famous Mysuru dasara festival between September 29 and October 8.
Also, he announced that renowned Kannada writer and literary figure S L Bhyrappa has been chosen to inaugurate the dasara celebrations.
Yediyurappa chaired a high-level committeemeeting on the preparations for the festival.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting attended by public representatives from Mysuru region and officials, he said, "On behalf of the government, we have decided to release Rs 20.50 crore immediately, we will clear it in the cabinet."
Asked whether government plans to organise thefestival in a simple way due to the floods in several parts of the state, the Chief Minister said, "The festival will happen just the way it has in the past."
