The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission today announced revising power tariff in different categories, which will lead to an overall increase in revenue by Rs 4,498 crore for full financial year leaving a deficit of Rs 334 crore.
For the balance period of the current year, since the revised tariff is proposed to be made effective from February 1, 2015, the increase in the revenue will be Rs 750 crore, according to an order.
The energy charge for small domestic category having consumption of up to 50 units per month has been increased from Rs 3 per unit to Rs 3.50 per unit.
In domestic category (51 to 150 units per month), per unit charges have been increased from Rs 4.65 to Rs 5.45.
For consumption from 151-300 units per month, the increase is from Rs 4.85 to Rs 5. 70 per unit.
Domestic consumers using 301-500 units per month will have to pay Rs 6 per unit which was Rs 5.15 earlier before the tariff revision.
For those domestic consumers using more than 500 units of electricity per month, the hike is from Rs 5.45 to Rs 6.40.
In the non-domestic category, the commission announced revised rate of Rs 6.75 unit per month in place of earlier Rs 5.60 for consumption up to first 100 units per month and from Rs 6 to Rs 7.15 per unit for consumption from 101 to 200 units a month.
In the same category, consumers using 201 to 500 units per month will have to pay as per Rs 7.45 unit instead of Rs 6.25 whereas the increase for consumption above 500 units per month is from Rs 6.60 per unit to Rs 7.85 in this non-domestic category.
The commission also increased power tariff for agriculture sector, small, medium and large industries also.
Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur DISCOMs had filed petitions for determination of Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) and tariff for FY 2014-15 following which the revision was made.
Earlier, the tariff for Financial Year 2013-14 was revised by the Commission in June 2013 wherein no tariff increase was made except for domestic and non-domestic consumers having consumption above 500 units and agriculture consumers.
