Ram Kumar Mahto, a retired army personnel was sleeping in his house last night when four unidentified miscreants barged into his house and caught hold of his hands and legs before one of them attacked with a knife on his private part, police said.
Mahto has suffered serious injury and was rushed to a nearby primary health centre, sources said adding that the doctors later referred him to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi.
Superintendent of Police Anup T Mathew said Mahto suffered a serious cut on his private part in the attack.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection under Lesligunj police station and a hunt has been launched to apprehend the culprits.
Mahto was alone at the home as his wife and the daughter had gone to attend a marriage ceremony in the vicinity when the incident took place, sources added.
