According to the union state General Secretary Sivajothi and District Secretary Murugaiyyan, though the government had "agreed" to their demands and even made an announcment in the last assembly session, so far no G.O. Had been issued.
The demands included fixing basic salary of tahsildhars at Rs.15,800, regularisation of employees with the special programme implementation and election department and incentive pay hike for graduate junior assistant and others.

Meanwhile, the state Executive of the Rural Development
Association General Secretary Balasubramanian said the state executive decided to meet the secretary as there were "enormous" vacancies in the 285 unions and 12,524 panchayats in the state.
In a release here today, he said seperate election wing should be created at the district offices as the elections for the local bodies were due next year.
The salary of Panchayt assistants should be disbursed through the treasury.
Fifty per cent reservation should be implemented for promotion of Panchayat secretary as Junior Assistants. Time scale should be fixed for computer assistants associated with the national rural employment guarantee programme, he said.
