Revenue officer escapes bid on life by mining mafia

A revenue officer had a narrow escape today when a person owing allegiance to local land mafia allegedly tried to crush him under a JCB machine when he had gone to check illegal mining in Jasrana tehsil.
Tehsildar of Jasrana town, Lalta Prasad Tiwari, had gone on a raid in Badagaon area after getting information about illegal mining, Aditional District Magistrate (ADM) Krmendra Singh said.
Those involved in the mining fled from the spot in a tractor, the ADM said, adding that when Tiwari attempted to stop the JCB machine its driver attempted to mow down the officer under its wheel.

However, Tiwari managed to escape the wheels, the ADM said.
He said that an FIR will be lodged against the driver and land mafias in this connection at Jasrana police station.
