Rice basmati down on sluggish demand

Rice basmati prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today owing to slackened demand at prevailing levels.
However, bajra and jowar traded higher on fresh buying by stockists.
Traders said fall in demand at prevailing higher levels against sufficient supplies in the wholesale market kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety fell by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,900-9,200 and Rs 7,700-9,300 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, bajra prices rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1,315-1,320 per quintal. Jowar yellow and white also traded higher at Rs 1,500-1,525 and Rs 2,350-2,550 against last close of Rs 1,475-1,500 and Rs 2,300-2,500 per quintal respectively.
The following were today's quotations per quintal:
Wheat, MP (deshi) 2,130-2,330, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,535-1,540, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,540-1,545 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 830-850 (50 kg), Maida 840-850 (50 kg) and Sooji 900-925 (50kg).
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,900-9,200, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,700-9,300, Permal raw 2,200-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,350, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,315-1,320, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,525, white 2,350-2,550, Maize 1,380-1,390, Barley 1,330-1,340, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
