Rice basmati strengthens by Rs 100 on increased buying

Rice basmati prices strengthened by up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following increased buying by stockists coupled with restricted supplies from producing belts.
Bajra and jowar also moved up on increased offtake by consuming industries.
Traders said pick up in buying by stockists against restricted supplies from producing regions kept rice basmati prices higher.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa - 1,121 variety edged up to Rs 5,200-5,300 and Rs 3,950-4,850 from previous levels of Rs 5,100-5,200 and Rs 3,900-4,800 per quintal, respectively.

Other bold grains like bajra were up by Rs 60 to Rs 1,490-1,495, while jowar yellow and white moved up by Rs 50 and Rs 100 to Rs 1,750-1,850 Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal, respectively.
