In its petition, the World Human Rights Commission and Rescue Centre appealed to the NHRC to issue a direction for a CBI inquiry into the incident and submit its report for further consideration of the rights panel.

It also requested the NHRC to pass a direction to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the victims and pay a monetary relief of Rs 5 lakh to injured.

Six persons were killed in the petrol bomb attack on their vehicle last month during 'Devar Jayanthi' in Ramanathapuram.
