Rights commission satisfied by Pb govt's action on its orders

Haryana Human Rights Commission today praised the state government for implementing almost all its orders.
Haryana Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Vijender Jain today expressed his satisfaction, saying that in Haryana, 99 per cent orders passed by it have been implemented.
He further said that out of a total of 2159 complaints received by the Commission, 1131 have been disposed off during last two years, adding that about 1025 complaints are still under its active consideration.
He said that it was essential for the governments to be more sensitive to the protection of human rights.
The Commission, which is completing its two year on September 28, has provided an efficient and responsive institution to legally deal with the cases pertaining to human right violations which is a big achievement of the Commission, he said.
He said that Protection of Human Right Act was enacted by the Parliament in the year 1993 and had directed all the states to have their independent Human Rights Commission.
He said that the Haryana Human Rights Commission has decided to organise a two-day conclave of All India State Human Rights Commission at Chandigarh on September 27 and 28 to deliberate upon the implementation of mandate which the Parliament has given to us besides discussing various problems being faced by the Commission of different states.
He said that it was a matter of pride that since the enactment of Protection of Human Right Act 1993, it was only the HHRC which has taken the initiative to organise a conclave of Human Rights Commission of all states.
Apart from Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission, Justice K G Balakrishnan, either Chairperson or acting Chairperson or Member or Secretary of Human Rights Commission of states including Assam, Bihar, Goa, Gujrat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, West Bengal and Punjab would participate in this conclave.
Justice Jain said that various issues would be discussed in the conclave which included recommending uniform terms and conditions of Chairperson and Members of Commission, to make the Commission more effective in implementation of orders passed by it, financial autonomy to the Commissions and to fix the responsibility in case of non compliance of orders by the government.
Besides, it would also be ensured that such orders should be implemented in a time bound manner.
He said that Human Rights Commission which has been established in 22 States across the country not only deal with the complaints pertaining to police but also with other complaints regarding civil administration, pension authority, revenue authority, transport union, electricity board.
