The Khawthlangtluipui river along the Mizoram-Bangladesh border is in spate due to incessant rains for the last three days.
Though no loss of life was reported, around 100 houses were submerged and the whole market of Tlabung town was now under the water.
Officials of the southern Mizoram district said the affected villages surrounding Tlabung town included Serhuan, Tiperaghat, Silkur, Nunsury-II, Gulsil, Tablabagh, Palukiasury and Diblibagh.
The road between Tlabung and Borapansury was submerged, due to which several villages along the Bangladesh border were cut off from the rest of the state.
