Roadside Romeo arrested

A youth was arrested here after a
woman filed a complaint that the youth, a roadside Romeo, had passed lewd remarks at her and touched her inappropriately, police said today.
The woman thrashed the youth for doing so and then lodged a complaint with the police, the police said.
The accused, identified as Chittaranjan Patra (30)and a resident of Friends Colony was arrested yesterday on charges of using criminal force to the complainant under section 354-B of IPC, said Badambadi police inspector B N Pati.
The incident happened on Saturday evening near the State's busiest bus terminus here after which the 22-year-old woman thrashed the youth in public with her sandal as he tried to call his friends over telephone, the police said adding that the woman later lodged a complaint.

Someone had recorded the entire scene with a mobile phone and the video went viral yesterday. Following identification of the youth from the clippings, he was arrested, police said.
