With the arrest of Bharat on May 18 from Ahmedabad, the police said they have cracked two robbery cases of over Rs 1.5 crore.
The gang used commit robberies in metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and would visit these cities by air.
They would send motorcycles by trucks to those cities and focus on a bank situated on main roads and then look for escape routes, police said.
According to the Delhi Police, on October 9 last, one Himmat Bafna was robbed of jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore by bike-borne criminals while he was on his way to Preet Vihar.
"During the course of investigation, the team of special staff collected around 15 CCTV footages from the bank, outside it and near the traffic signal. The CCTV footages of both the incidents were minutely analysed.
"From the analysis, it was found that some faces were commonly seen in both the footages. Six suspects and three motorcycles were suspected to be involved in the commission of the crimes. One of the criminals was around 50 years of age," Ajay Kumar, DCP (East District) said.
"Though the photographs of those criminals did not match with those involved in these incidents, but the modus operandi and involvement of the person over 50 years were common.
