Three motorcycle-borne youths overpowered the security guards of the bank who had gone to deposit cash in the ATM located on the campus of the North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) at around 1 pm and fled with the cash, Capital SP S P Kuruvilla said.
An alert was sounded immediately throughout the state capital and at all check gates, the SP said, adding a massive manhunt was launched to nab the robbers.
However, no arrest has been made so far, he said.
Last year in November, miscreants had looted Rs 30 lakh from the same branch, followed by Rs 18 lakh from a private sector bank in December last.
