Former county player and English administrator Roger Knight will be the next President of Marylebone Cricket Club after being nominated to the post by incumbent David Morgan at the MCC Annual General Meeting.
The 68-year-old will take up the post on October 1, according to an MCC release.
Knight served as MCC Secretary & Chief Executive between 1994 and 2006 and will become only the fifth Member in history to have held both offices of the Club.
A left-handed batting all-rounder, Knight represented Cambridge University, Surrey, Gloucestershire and Sussex during a first-class career that spanned 387 matches.
He captained Surrey for six seasons and led them to victory at Lord's in the NatWest Trophy in 1982.
He is currently Chairman of the ECB Association of Cricket Officials, President of Cambridge University Cricket Club and Chairman of Governors at King's College, Taunton.
"I am delighted to nominate Roger Knight as the next President and I am sure he will prove to be a great success. Having known Roger as both a player and administrator, I came to know him better when he was MCC's first representative as a Director of the England & Wales Cricket Board," MCC President David Morgan said.
Roger Knight said, "MCC is such a prestigious Club, with an international membership and worldwide influence. I shall do my best to support and promote its values in my year in office.
