Teachers and student leaders of Rohilkhand University here allegedly attacked the office of its registrar and indulged in vandalism to press for their demand to extend the dates of examinations, police said today.
While police and security personnel used force to disperse the agitating teachers and student leaders yesterday afternoon, an FIR was lodged late last night against three teachers, including the general secretary of Rohilkhand University Teachers' Association (RUTA).
Leaders of Samajwadi Party Chatra Sabha gheraoed Registrar K N Pandey yesterday demanding that the dates of BBA, BEd and LLB examination slated from June 4 should be extended, police said.
Meanwhile, some teachers -- including RUTA general secretary Swadesh Singh, V P Singh and T S Chauhan -- also allegedly entered the room, asking the registrar in the beginning to leave but later started dragging him, they said.
The agitators allegedly damaged the furniture, threw files and manhandled the registrar, they said.
The teachers and student leaders were chased away by police and security personnel by using force.
RUTA general secretary Swadesh Singh was demanding that he should be included in the examination committee, Registrar Pandey said, adding that Singh was removed as he had completed his term and would be eligible only after re-election.
On the complaint of the registrar, an FIR has been lodged against three teachers -- Swadesh Singh, V P Singh and T S Chauhan, Baradari police station in-charge Jasbeer Singh said.
