Miscreants on Monday snatched Rs 1.5 lakh from the sub-divisional officer of Chaibasa soon after he withdrew the money from the branch of a nationalised bank in Dumka district, a senior police officer said.
The SDO, Paritosh Kumar Thakur had withdrawn Rs two lakh from Jermundi Bazar branch of Bank of India this afternoon, sub-divisional police officer Animesh Naithany said.
He kept Rs 50000 in his pocket and the rest in a hand bag which was snatched away by two motorcyle-borne miscreants as soon as he emerged from the bank, Naithany said.
All adjoining police stations have been alerted, while efforts are on to identify the culprits from CCTV footages, the SDPO added.
