Rs 15 lakh worth sea lizard and shells seized

About 30 kg of sea lizard, an endangered species, and 70 kg of shells worth around Rs 15 lakh were seized today from two persons near the municipal office here by central government forest department officials.
This is the first time forest department officials from the union government conducted raids in this island to effect seizures. The officials took the help of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Raj for the purpose, police said.
Police said the sea lizard is used for medicinal purposes.
