'Rs 4.97-cr compensation released for U'khand flood victims'

The Delhi government has so far released compensation to the tune of Rs 4.97 crore for the next kin of 142 victims of Uttarakhand disaster.
"The revenue department has given compensation to the kin/relatives of 142 victims of the 2013 Uttarakhand disaster. A total amount of Rs 4.97 crore approximately, Rs 3.50 lakh per victim, has been released by the government so far," said a senior official of the revenue department.
The official said the revenue department was given the primary responsibility for relief and rehabilitation operations in any calamity whether natural or man-made.
