After getting inputs, an IT team raided the merchant's shop in Barabazar yesterday and also caught inland money couriers, H N Singh, nodal officer of Income Tax for election expenses monitoring, told PTI here.
He said that it was not yet established whether the money was being sent for any electoral purpose.
In Siliguri, a static surveillance team of the district election officer seized Rs 10 lakh from a checkpost, officials said.
The IT department has opened a 24x7 control room and deputed flying squads to restrict movement of undisclosed cash and bullion for polls ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
