When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned the passing away of Singh on August 6 at the age of 71. He had represented Maharashtra for two consecutive terms from April 1982 to April 1988 and April 1988 to April 1994.
"In the passing away of Shri Vishvjit P Singh, the country has lost a distinguished Parliamentarian. We deeply mourn the passing away of Vishvjit P Singh," Ansari said.
Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the departed.
