When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned Khan's passing away yesterday at the age of 78 years.
A coffee planter and avid sports enthusiast, Khan represented Karnataka in the Upper House for two terms -- from April 1976 to April 1982 and April 1982 to April 1988.
"In passing away of Shri F M Khan, the country has last a veteran parliamentarian and an able sports administrator. We deeply mourn the passing away of Shri F M Khan," Ansari said.
Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of departed.
