The 29-year-old "Orange is the New Black" star is currently filming her role in the sixth and final instalment of the franchise in South Africa.
Her character is called Abigail, but no other information about her role has been released yet.
She joins Milla Jovovich, who is once again back as Alice.
Ali Larter is returning as Claire Redfield and Wentworth Miller will be reprising his role as her on-screen brother, Chris.
Jovovich's husband Paul WS Anderson is also back in the director's chair using his own movie script, which picks up from where the events of 2012's "Resident Evil: Retribution" left off.
