Out of the 108 Zilla panchayat wards, the SDF and candidates supported by it has won 103 seats while Independents supported by the opposition has won five Zilla panchayat wards, State Election Commission sources said.
In percentage points, SDF occupies 95.37 per cent of the Zilla wards now against its share of 91.39 per cent in the 2007 panchayat polls.
In 2007 there were 93 Zilla panchayat wards and the SDF and candidates supported by it had won 86 seats while Independents backed by the opposition parties had won seven seats.
At the ward-level, with 13 results withheld, SDF had won 884 of the 974 wards and Independents winning 89 wards, the sources said.
