GRR Martin has clarified to fans that he is "not dead yet" after some of them confused the "Game of Thrones" creator with The Beatles producer George Martin, who died at the age of 90.
GRR Martin, who is notorious for bumping off beloved characters from his popular novels on which the hit TV show is based on, said he is expecting to hang around a while more.
"While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated," the 67-year-old author wrote on his blog.
Martin said that while the music producer will be missed greatly, he never met his namesake.
"As for me, I am still here, still writing, still editing, still going to movies and reading books, and I expect to hang around for quite a while yet, thank you very much," said the author.
It is not the first time that the author has faced such rumours as fans have often speculated about his death, wondering whether it will mean they will never get to know how the story ends.
Martin, however, had shared in an interview that he knows the ending of the story and has shared it with show creators.
"I know the ending in broad strokes. I don't know every little twist and turn that will get me there, and I don't know the ending of every secondary character. But the ending and the main characters, yeah.
"And (Game of Thrones producers) David Benioff and Dan Weiss know some of that too, which the fans are very worried about in case I get hit by a truck," Martin had said.
Season six of the series returns on television next month.
