Rupee drops 17 paise to close at 68.62 against US dollar

The rupee today dropped by 17 paise to settle at 68.62 paise against US dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market.

The pound sterling finished sharply lower at Rs 89.39/41 at the close of the forex market here today.
