Murphy said he was throwing the designers' clothes "in the trash" and urged Hollywood to do the same, said the Hollywood Reporter.
The producer, who has two children with husband David Miller, said he was outraged by the designers' opposition to IVF and same-sex adoption and is joining the boycott against the label's clothes.
"It's so ignorant of Dolce & Gabbana to speak out with such ugly evil - what they said is a not-modern thing to say. There are all kinds of families today," Murphy said.
"The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging," Gabbana had said.
The remarks drew a lot of criticism from the celebrities like Elton John, Victoria Beckham, Courtney Love and Ricky Martin.
In separate statements both Dolce and Gabbana said the opinions were their personal view and not judgements.
While Dolce, said, "I'm Sicilian and I grew up in a traditional family, made up of a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I've known. But in my personal experience, family had a different configuration.
