Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh today said he was sad that RJD chief Lalu Prasad had been found guilty in the fodder scam but expressed confidence he would prove his innocence in the higher court.
"I am sad about the fact that Lalu Prasad Yadavji has been found guilty; .....I am sure he will be able to prove his innocence in the higher court," Singh told reporters here.
"He has been a trusted and an old partner of the Congress Party," he added.
In a big blow to Yadav, a special CBI court in the fodder scam case convicted him and 44 others in a verdict that disqualifies him from Parliament and renders him ineligible for contesting elections for at least six years.
