The court gave the direction on a PIL by Jawaharlal Shanmugam, who sought the court to direct all the authorities concerned to provide ramp facility as a mandatory rule from the top most floors to ground floor for easy evacuation of the patients, in case of any emergency.
The high court had on April 21 directed the Tamil Nadu government to formulate a final policy with regard to providing ramp facility in all hospital buildings and also indicate the time line for its implementation.
"We call upon the CMDA to give district-wise list as to how many hospitals exist, how many are compliant and how many are non-complaint," the court said, adding, the abstract along with affidavit be filed within six weeks.
The court posted the matter for further hearing to January 20, 2017.
