Sahitya Akademi calls for Yuva Puraskar entries

Sahitya Akademi has invited entries from publishers and young Indian authors of the age 35 and below for the Yuva Puraskar 2017 in all 24 languages recognised by the Akademi.
Authors aged 35 or below on January 1, 2017 are eligible for the award, whose last date of submission is September 30. The annual award is given to the first book or the best book by the author.
"The awards are presented in a prestigious ceremony and comprise an amount of Rs 50,000, a plaque and a citation," K Sreennivasarao, Secretary, Sahitya Akademi said.
The Sahitya Akademi introduced Yuva Puraskar in 2011 to encourage young writers writing in Indian languages and since then a total of 106 awards have been given.

Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Rajasthani, santali, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu are the languages officially recognised by the Akademi.
The yuva Puraskar for 2016 went to Prarthana Saikia (Assamese), Raka Dasgupta (Bengali), Bijit Gayari (Bodo), Brham Dutt Magotra (Dogri), Raghu Karnad (English), Nilotpal Mrinal (Hindi), Vikrama Hatwara (Kannada), Aadil Mohi-ud-din (Kashmiri), Anwesha Arun Singbal (Konkani), Deep Narayan 'Vidyarthi'(Maithili), Surya Gopi (Malayalam), Chongtham Dipu Singh (Manipuri), Manaswani Lata Ravindra (Marathi), Sanjeev Chhetri (Nepali), Jnanee Debasish Mishra (Odia), Ranjit Saranwali (Punjabi), Jitendra Kumar Soni (Rajasthani), Bharat Bhusan Rath (Sanskrit), Parimal Hansdah (Santali), Bharti Sadarangani (Sindhi), Lakshmi Saravana Kumar (Tamil), Chaithanya Pingali (Telugu) and Abdus Sami (Urdu).
