Sales Tax inspector held for accepting Rs 500 bribe

A sales tax inspector was arrested by ACB in his office here while he was allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 500 from proprietor of a wine bar, a senior official said today.
Narendra Chakolekar (45) had sought bribe of Rs 2000 from the complainant for giving him NOC for running the wine bar and restaurant, said ACB deputy SP Satish Deshmukh.
Chakolekar was caught when he was allegedly accepting advance payment of Rs 500 from the complainant last evening.
An offence under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the sales tax inspector.
