Salgaocar FC will look to bounce back after suffering a reverse in their last game, as they gear up to take on Mohun Bagan in the Hero I-League here tomorrow.
Salgaocar FC, who suffered their first defeat - against Royal Wahingdoh 0-1 in their last match, remains on one point from two matches. While Bagan who won their opening encounter against Mumbai FC and have three points.
In their last match, Salgaocar created ample scoring chances, but poor finishing let them down and coach Derrick Pereira acknowledged that it was his side's defensive lapse that saw them concede a goal in the first half.
"I think lapse in concentration at the back when we were keeping possession cost us the game. The players did well in the second half. We created a lot of chances but we can say that the ball did not enter the net," said Pereira.
"Darryl Duffy and Saran Singh are still not fit and we have to rely on the same squad to get us a win tomorrow against a side who is high on confidence and have quality strikers and also defend well.
"We have met them in the Federation Cup and defeated them 4-1 and I am looking to win tomorrow also. My boys are looking positive even after the defeat in the last match and hopefully they play in the same manner the way played in the last two matches and created scoring chances and convert them. The defence too needs to play well as they have quality strikers in the form of Yusa Katsumi, Balwant Singh and speedy Sony Norde," stated Pereira.
Bagan are coming into this match after beating Mumbai FC.
"I have told my boys not to be complacent after the win as Salgaocar is a strong side to whom we lost in the Federation Cup. It's going to be a close contest," said Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen.
