Superstar Salman Khan today said that he does not own a football team in the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) and any association with it will clash with his prior commitments.
Reacting to reports, the 49-year-old actor set the record straight through a series of tweets and said his friends and FC Pune City co-owners Dheeraj and Kapil Wadhawan had asked him to be a part of the team but he could not accept it due to prior commitments.
"I do not own any ISL team. My friends Dheeraj & Kapil Wadhawan had asked me to be their partner in FC Pune City. But due to my endorsement contracts with Suzuki and Thums Up which conflict with the League sponsors, I can't associate with FCPuneCity," he wrote.
The 'Kick' star said he endorses Nita Ambani's vision in the football grass-roots program and would work whole heartedly to support it.
"By creating ISL, IMG-Reliance and Star have put in place an important building block to put Indian football on the global football map.
"I endorse Nita Ambani's vision in the football grassroots program and will work wholeheartedly in supporting it. The football grassroots program will shape the next generation of Indian footballers," he added.
The debut season of ISL will commence from October 12.
