Sources in police said that the matter was taken up by Special Cell after a few persons from Salve's office reported the matter to Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi "unofficially".
The phone number through which the alleged threat call was made, is apparently registered in Australia. However, it is possible that the accused resorted to some technology in order to mislead cops in case the matter was reported, said an officer, who did not disclose the nature of threat.
The matter was handed to Special Cell because of the suspected involvement of underworld don Ravi Pujari, whose whereabouts the police are trying to track.
A senior officer of Special Cell said, "There has been no written complaint filed so far in connection with this case.
