The movie is being directed by Stuart Hazeldine, reported Variety.
The novel, first published in 2007, revolves around a man whose youngest daughter gets abducted during a family vacation.
Some evidence is found in an abandoned shack leading authorities to believe she was murdered.
Four years later, the father receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him back to the shack. Against his better judgment, he accepts the invitation.
Lionsgate acquired rights to the book in 2013.
