The civic body is going to develop the five new parks at Gobindtola and in front of the Regional Transport Office in Sambalpur, near the Jagannath Temple and near the Government ITI at Hirakud and at Sriram Vihar in Burla, an SMC official said today.
The SMC will spend around Rs 1.03 crores for the new parks.
However, residents alleged the existing 8 parks of the SMC have been lying in shambles due to lack of maintenance.
Sambalpur Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Sudhansu Bhoi said in response, "The Municipal Corporation has proposal for renovation of the existing parks. A decision has been taken to install lights at those parks and carry out some construction work besides beautification works.
