Tension seems to be brewing in AAP's Punjab unit over its restructuring, with a top party official today alleging that state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and national spokesperson Sanjay Singh are "adamant to destroy the party in the state".
"State convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and spokesperson Sanjay Singh are destroying the party's prospects in the state. Appointing state office-bearers and unilateral announcement for the same without consulting state executive committee makes this quite apparent," chairman of disciplinary committee of AAP's Punjab unit, Daljit Singh said.
Questioning Chhotepur's status in the party, Daljit claimed that he had been suspended as party's state convener on May 9 by the state executive committee and the decision was conveyed to the central executive committee.
"The central committee has not taken back the suspension order. So, on what basis then Chhotepur has taken the decisions?" he asked.
On Sanjay Singh announcing that Chhotepur will continue to remain on the post, Daljit said, "Who is Sanjay Singh to singularly take the decision on Chhotepur? And, that too through Twitter."
The AAP leader said he has written to party chief Arvind Kejriwal cautioning him there would be a "storm within the party" if Chhotepur continued as state party convener.
"Dissent over unilateral restructuring of the state party unit is just the beginning of the storm," he said.
