Sasikumar Mukund ousts Colin van Beem in ITF Futures final

Second-seed Sasikumar Mukund of India got the better of Colin van Beem of the Netherlands, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the singles final today to emerge triumphant in the Justice P S Kailasam ITF Futures tennis tournament here.
The 20-year-old from Chennai came up with an impressive display of fluent stroke-making against the fourth-seeded Dutchman, a solid strokemaker himself.
In the first set, both players held serve till 4-all before Beem broke through. In the next game, the Dutch player staved off two break points to hold serve and take the set.
The second set saw Mukund dominate a tiring Colin. He broke serve in the second game and was leading 4-1.
In the seventh game Beem went for his shots in desperation and broke Mukund's serve.However, he dropped serve in the next and saw his rival close out the set with ease.
In the decider, the Dutchman lost steam allowing Mukund to take the upperhand. After the players exchanged breaks early and held for 3-all,it was the Indian all the way.
Mukund received USD 2,160 and 18 ATP points for winning the title while Colin received USD 1272 and 12 ATP points.
Top-seeded Indian duo of Chandril Sood and Lakshit Sood beat compatriots Arjun Khade and Rishabdev Raman 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 in the final yesterday to win the doubles title.
