The National Investigation Agency today filed a supplementary charge sheet against two Popular Front of India "members" in connection with alleged murder of Sasikumar, a spokesperson for the Hindu Munnani in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, officials said here.
The agency filed the supplementary charge sheet at a special court in Chennai against one Abu alias Syed Abuthagir and Mubarak alias Mohammed Mubarak under, they said.
"During investigation, NIA conducted searches at the houses of 4 accused persons on March 18 and recovered PFI donation receipts, PFI literature, PFI Unity March CDs, mobile phones, Compact Disks and pen drives, DVD of Zakir Naik of Islamic Research Foundation and other incriminating documents relating to PFI," the agency said in a statement.
It said earlier a charge sheet was filed on April 7, 2018 against two accused persons Sadham alias Sadham Hussain and Subair.
"This case was initially registered by Thudiyalur PS in Coimbatore district on 23rd September, 2016 in connection with the brutal killing of C.Sasi Kumar, spokesperson of Hindu Munnani in Coimbatore using Aruvals (Bill hooks) on September 22, 2016 at about 11.15 PM," it said.
Nearly 16 months later, the home ministry directed the NIA to take up the investigation in the case.
"Investigation has established that Abu, Sadham, Subair and Mubarak and other accused persons, all active members of the PFI, conspired and killed Sasikumar...brutally to strike terror among a section of people," the NIA alleged.
