AIADMK Legislature Party leader A.Anbalagan told reporters here that there was a statutory provision to appoint three persons, drawn from fields such as literary, art, culture and other non-political sectors as nominated MLAs.
"But most of the time the party in power would accommodate their own men as nominated legislators, particularly those who are defeated in the Assembly polls or those who could not get a party ticket," he said adding that the provision had thus been misused.
He also asked the Lt Governor not to give her nod if the ministry came forward to appoint a non-official person as Chairman of public sector undertakings and Corporations.
