An explosion took place inside a police station in Bihar's Bhagalpur district Monday when a bomb allegedly kept in the sack of a scavenger went off while she was collecting garbage in its premises, seriously injuring her.
The incident occurred near the lock up of Nathnagar police station, its Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Ali Sabri said.
The blast blown off the fingers of Bunki Devi, the 70-year-old scavenger, who was admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital here, Sabri said.
He said the woman regularly collects garbage from the police station premises and she probably had picked up a crude bomb somewhere else and it went off inside the police station.
The SHO said no bomb was stored inside the police station premises.
The incident is being investigated.
