School students to be taught cleanliness in Haryana: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that school students will be taught about cleanliness as the BJP-led state government plans to make cleanliness subject a part of the syllabus.
"To inculcate the spirit of cleanliness among children, the state government will introduce one class on Safai (cleanliness) for students in schools from first till tenth standard, which will be part of the syllabus," Khattar said here while addressing media on the completion of six months of the present BJP government in the state.
Referring to the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' (SBM), he said the first meeting of the Sub-Group constituted for the implementation of this programme headed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was held yesterday in New Delhi, which was also attended by him.

The Committee opined that for the success of this programme, sanitation should be imbibed as a basic nature of an individual, he said.
He further said that on his request, the next meeting of the Sub-Group would be held at Chandigarh in May where ministers and chief ministers of about ten states would participate.
When asked if action will be taken on Robert Vadra's land deals, Khattar reiterated that the state government was moving ahead with positive agenda in its mind.

"There is not going to be any political vendetta (against anyone). But steps will be taken to ensure no irregularity further takes place," he said.

The state government will set up 'Haryana Swachhta Kosh' for the construction and maintenance of toilets in all schools of the state, Khattar said.
Apart from this, all women police stations would be set up in each district for making it easier and convenient for women to approach the police station in case of any urgency, he said.
"These will be made functional by 'Raksha Bandhan' which falls on August 29 to ensure security and safety of women in the state. For this, recruitment of as many as 500 women constables would be made soon," he said.
The Chief Minister said that this year 5,000 posts of police personnel would be filled up in the police department. Complete transparency would be ensured in all the recruitment processes and it would be made solely on meritorious basis, he asserted.

Besides, the state government has given approval for 500 new bikes for the police department so as to enable the police to make regular and effective patrolling to prevent the occurrence of crime, Khattar said.
He said 'HARSAMAY', a 24x7 portal of Haryana Police has been started where anybody could lodge a complaint online by sitting at home.
