Science,Tech Ministry to go for e-management work culture

The government today launched e-management of INSPIRE award, which encourages students to pursue science and take up a career in research, with its success prompting the Science, Technology and Earth Sciences ministry to go for e-management work culture.
"I have directed my ministry to adopt such IT-enabled tools and techniques for management of competitive grants for research funding...I am told that my ministry would soon be moving into e-management work culture," Union Science and Technology Minister S Jaipal Reddy said.
He was speaking during the launch of the nation-wide e-management of INSPIRE awards.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a national programme implemented by the Ministry for encouraging students to study science and pursue a career in research.

Officials said the launch was done through web telecast and could be seen all over the world.
The Minister said for users, the e-management of INSPIRE may be a matter of convenience, but for him, it was just not an operational modality but a statement of value and commitment in favour of transparent administration.

"Our ministry has launched this project. It has so far benefited one million students in the country. We launched e-management of this scheme today. We had exhibits from more than 800 young and upcoming students. Exhibition shows what talent we have. It assures us that the future of India is brighter," Reddy said.

The present software enables web-enabled enrolment of schools, INSPIRE awardees, district, state and national level authorities engaged in implementation of the scheme, the Minister said, adding that the entire decision-making process could be transparent and open.
"Modern age has come to being through science and technology innovations. In my opinion, history should be viewed in a techno-centric way," the minister added.
