The SDF candidates have been declared elected unopposed on all four zilla territorial units and 38 gram panchayat wards at the end of last day for withdrawal of candidature late last evening, the election officials said today.
It is first such instance in the two-decade history of panchayat polls in Sikkim that all zilla territorial units and gram panchayat wards have been won unopposed in any assembly constituency by any party, sources in the state election commission said.
"The spectacular victory in panchayat polls in Gnathang-Machong (BL) assembly seat has been made possible by the chief minister's goodwill with the masses," Lepcha told PTI today.
