South Delhi Municipal Commissioner Puneet Goel issued a notification banning burning of dry leaves, horticultural waste, household waste, garbage and other such waste.
He said air pollution is increasing due to regular burning of ground wastes etc, by people at various locations.
"In various orders, courts, tribunals had already banned burning of leaves, garbage and green waste," he added.
Goel said all the officials, zonal deputy commissioners and employees will take action against any defaulters as per provisions of the law, and appealed all citizens and RWAs to come forward and help in protection of environment.
